Attracts over 300,000 visitors each year

With the support of all the Lions of District 303 and Lions Clubs International Foundation, almost HK$10 million were raised to build the Lions Nature Education Center which occupied over 16 acres of land in Sai Kung. Some of the important attractions of the Center include: Insectarium, Dragonfly Pond, Medicinal Herbal Garden, Shell House, etc. The Lions Nature Education Center is a signature environment project of the District which aims to promote nature education and develope a sense of importance of environmental protection. The Center was launched in 1991 and had since attracted 300,000 visitors each year.

Shell House : the first and the largest in Southeast Asia

Four years later in 1995, under the auspices of the Agriculture and Fisheries Department and the joint sponsorship of the Shell Hong Kong Limited, Environmental & Conservation Fund of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Government and District 303, construction of the second phase of the Lions Nature Education Center began. The new phase was named “the Shell House” and was the first exhibition center in Southeast Asia displaying 5000 pieces of beautiful sea shells from the ocean
